When it comes to keeping your content fresh, it can sometimes be hard to have enough visual content that goes along with what you want to post or share. After all, we can sit here and write social captions for days, but you also need the visuals to go along with those to really connect with your audience.
This is why content sessions are so important for influencers or content creators. These can help bridge that gap so you are not trying to set up a makeshift photoshoot on a whim or grab some pictures with your phone.
So, if you are looking to level up your content, here are some content creation ideas for influencers to keep your feeds fresh and up to date.
Content Creation Ideas for Influencers
Highlight any brands you are currently working with or want to work with in the future

A great place to start when it comes to content ideas is any brands that you are working with. Big or small, if you are working with a certain brand, a photoshoot is a great time to get some professional content with them that you can use across your platforms in the future.
This can look like a lot of different things depending on what the products are. For clothing deals, you can make sure to wear those clothes to the session and show off the logos in the photos.
If you are working with products like cosmetics, food, etc, you can have more interactive content of you using the product (doing your making, making dinner, etc).
You can also do this exact same thing with brands that you are not currently working with but that you want to work with in the future. Doing this will not only give you solid content with other brands that you love but also help get your name out there to that brand.
If they see you consistently using their products and raving about it, they may be more likely to reach out to you in the future for a collaboration!
Now, you don’t have to feel like you have to be super over the top or “salesy” with this content. You can use the products and show off the brands in a natural way while still getting content that you love, and that works for you!
Plan out outfits to have a variety of looks to use in your content

You want to make sure that you plan out a couple of outfits for your content sessions as well so that you have a bit of variety when it comes to your photos. The last thing that you want is a ton of content that all looks the same.
You may find if you do this that you have the images you need, but you don’t use them as much as you would like because you don’t want your feed or all of your content to look exactly the same.
A great way to get around this is to utilize layers during your content session. Layers are the perfect way to get two or even three different looks out of (what realistically is) a single outfit.
For this option, I would recommend going with a more neutral piece for the bottom half and playing around with layers on the top. This can mean wearing something like a black pair of jeans that you can style with maybe a shirt, a long overcoat, and a hoodie.
By doing this, you can have three different looks and three different styles (casual, more put together, and something a bit nicer) by just switching out a single piece.
Get a wide range of images to use on all of the different platforms you release content on

As tempting as it may be to just get photos for Instagram during content sessions, you want to make sure you take a step back and think about where you are going to be using this content. Are you just going to be posting on Instagram, or are there other ways that you share things with your audience?
For example, if one of the things you do is rate products, are you just doing that via video or social posts, or are you putting it somewhere like a blog? If you are, you want to make sure that you are also getting photos that you can use there so that you are able to use original content that matches the vibe as you post those.
You can also think about the other social media platforms you post on and what content you need for them. For instance, you may be posting one thing on Instagram and a similar thing on YouTube, but you don’t want them to look exactly the same.

Taking the time to think about where you post content and how you want to show up on each of those platforms can make your content sessions more useful for you and easier to plan for.
You can also think about if you want to present different sides of yourself on these different platforms. For example, maybe your Instagram feed is a bit more curated, but you want your YouTube channel to be a bit more candid and true to life.
You may want more candid and real moments to use on things like your YouTube intro or as thumbnails that you can get during these sessions while still also getting more of those curated photos that you can use on Instagram.
Get samples of any merch or products you are selling to add to the session

As you start to gain popularity and tracking online, you may want to start getting into the world of merch and product sales. This can be things that are connected to your personal brand, or maybe it is something that you have always wanted to pursue, and now you have the platform to do it.
Whatever the case may be, you want to make sure that you plan out some content surrounding those products. This means getting samples of any merch or products that you are going to be selling and using them in your sessions.
This can be great for one of two reasons. First, this can be a great way to soft launch any new products you are offering. If this is your first time selling merch, for example, you can have some content with you casually wearing it and not specifically calling it out to start to gather interest for it before officially announcing it to your audience.
Second, it also gives you content for when you are ready to sell it. People are going to want to purchase things from you, especially as an influencer, because you use and love them.
Getting content shoots with your own products gives you images that you can use to promote it that are going to connect way more with your community. Think about it: are you more likely to buy a sweatshirt if you just see a picture of it laid out on a table or if your favorite creator is wearing it themselves?
Consider getting video as well as photos

Consider getting videos as well as photos if you can. Solid b-roll can go a long way when it comes to your content, and these are videos that you can use across all of your platforms. These videos can be great for any new product launches you have or for switching up how your feed looks.
The great thing about this type of video is that it is super flexible and allows you to mold it into whatever you need. For example, if you are planning a post where you are listing out some of the top trends you love, instead of just having static pictures, you can make a reel with you walking down the street and have the trends written on top.
It may seem like a small detail, but the most important thing is making sure that you are constantly updating your content so you don’t feel like you are posting the same things over and over again, and this is a great way to shake things up.
Record behind-the-scenes video clips

Lastly, bring your own tripod to a session to record some behind-the-scenes video clips on your phone. These can easily be repurposed to TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts… you get the idea! Using this footage helps to show the actual behind-the-scenes of what it is like creating content for your audience.
Be sure to check with your photographer beforehand to see if they are comfortable with you filming some BTS during your session.
